Zearfoss makes noise at National Open; All Star season ends at Kokomo

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (October 1, 2018) – Pole-sitter Brock Zearfoss was well on his way to a National Open triumph on Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway when trouble struck the Destiny Motorsports entry, forcing the ‘Jonestown Jet’ hard into the outside guardrails at the entrance of turn one. A flat left-front tire was the culprit, created from contact with fellow front-runner, Lance Dewease, during a lap 24 restart. Zearfoss led every lap of the $56,000-to-win main event up until that point, closing in on a first-ever National Open victory with the Greatest Show On Dirt.

Despite the hard hit, Zearfoss walked away unharmed, but would not finish.

Unfortunately for Zearfoss, his weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series did not start any better than it ended, forced to compete in Friday’s Last Chance Showdown (LCS) after missing a main event transfer position by one spot during his respective heat race. After a spin during the LCS, Zearfoss was scored 11th.

“We were right there on Saturday. But, it is what it is at this point. We knew we were quick and everyone that was there knows we were quick. Our time is coming. We are going to shake this bad luck at some point,” Brock Zearfoss said, a former World of Outlaws winner at Williams Grove Speedway. “I can’t thank my crew enough for their hard work and dedication. They bust their butts for me and I appreciate everything. We still have a lot of racing left in 2018. We have plenty of time to turn our luck around.”

Brock Zearfoss and Destiny Motorsports will continue their 2018 campaign with the All Star Circuit of Champions finale at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind., on Saturday, October 6. The Jonestown, Pa., native has been active on the All Star trail in 2018 and owns eight top-ten feature finishes in 19 main event attempts, the most recent in the form of a fourth place finish at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., on Friday, September 14.
